Constitutional Matters

It is a requirement under s 78B of the Judiciary Act 1903 (Cth) that, if there is a cause pending in a court involving a matter arising under the Constitution or involving its interpretation, notice of the cause, specifying the nature of the matter, must be given to the Attorneys-General of the Commonwealth, the States and Territories before the court is able to proceed in the cause.

These notices should be forwarded to the Office of the Solicitor-General at Solicitor.General@justice.tas.gov.au to enable provision of advice to the Attorney-General.
